Electrical & Energy Assessment
And where you’re losing money — before you spend a dollar.
Why this exists
Why this catches homeowners off guard
Most homeowners only find out their panel is full when they try to add something to it. An EV charger. A hot tub. A heat pump. A pool.
By then it’s not a conversation anymore, it’s a project. Someone tells you the panel can’t handle what you want, and that has to get sorted before anything else moves forward.
Then they’re told the only fix is a full service upgrade — a job that can run $4,000 to $8,000 and take weeks to coordinate with the utility. That’s the default answer from a lot of electricians, and sometimes it really is the right one.
Often, there’s a better answer. Our free assessment tells you which situation you’re actually in, before you’ve committed to the expensive path.
Start with a photo
You don't need to schedule anything to get started. Text a photo of your electrical panel to 804-302-2400 — open the panel door so we can see the breakers and the label — and we'll tell you what we can from the picture: your service size, roughly how much capacity you have left, and whether what you're planning is realistic. It costs you nothing, and it's the fastest way to get a real answer from a licensed electrician.
What we look at
Electrical safety
Panel condition and age, service size, breaker condition, grounding and bonding, double-tapped breakers, obsolete equipment, aluminum or knob-and-tube wiring, GFCI and AFCI protection, smoke and CO detectors, and surge protection.
Available capacity
What your service can actually support today, what your current major loads are consuming, and how much headroom you have left. We evaluate your HVAC, water heater, range, dryer, and any existing high-draw equipment.
Energy-saving opportunities
Where your home is spending money it doesn't need to. Lighting is often the fastest win — swapping older incandescent and halogen fixtures for LED can cut lighting energy use by roughly 75%. We also look at older appliances, water heating, standby loads, thermostat setup, pool equipment, and load management.
Readiness for what's next
A straightforward green / yellow / red rating on whether your home is ready for an EV charger, battery backup, solar, heat pump electrification, or a smart electrical panel.
The same approach utilities use with businesses
Dominion Energy runs efficiency programs that help businesses cut their electrical costs — assessing how a facility uses power, identifying what's wasting it, and funding the upgrades that pay back. GridLogic is a participating contractor in Dominion's Small Business Improvement program, so we do this work on the commercial side.
We think homeowners deserve the same approach.
The methodology is the same whether it's a warehouse or a house: look at how power is actually being used, find where it's being wasted, and fix the things that pay for themselves. Most homeowners have never had anyone do that for them.
